Some 12 million schoolchildren across South Africa have sung a specially composed song as part of official celebrations for Nelson Mandela's 94th birthday on Wednesday.
The former South African president will spend the day quietly with his family in his village home of Qunu in the Eastern Cape, near where he was born.

Celebrations will take place across the world on Wednesday [July 18] to mark Nelson Mandela’s 94th birthday.
A Nobel peace laureate, Mandela spent 27 years in prison fighting racist rule. He became South Africa’s first black president in 1994, serving a five-year term.
Mandela married Graça Machel, his third wife on his 80th Birthday…Nelson and Graça were married on July 18, 1998, in the presence of family, sixteen friends, and one photographer.
