Mercy Johnson grabs the award for the best actress at NMA 2012
ot and flaming star actress Mercy Johnson,on the 2nd of June, grabbed the award for best actress in a leading role at the inaugural Nollywood Movie Awards. Other nominees that competed for the same award are Genevieve Nnaji, Omoni Oboli, Uche Jombo, and Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde.
Clinching this award was made possible for her role in the movie Weeping Soul.
The award for Best Actor in a Leading Role went to Joseph Benjamin, for his role in the movie Tango With Me. The award for Best Actress in an Indigenous movie went to Funke Akindele, while Yinka Quadri won the award for Best Actor in an Indigenous Role.
One of the biggest winners for the night was Gabriel Afolayan, as he won the Rising Star Award (male), as well as the award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role for his role in the movie Ghetto Dreamz.
The whole happenings of the night points to one thing, and that is the fact that Nigerians have come to appreciate indigenous products, and seriously embracing it with smile.
